How to Level Up Your Accessory Game

The Art of Accessorizing

Accessories can be tricky to master. You don’t want to overdo it and take away from your outfit. But, you don’t want to go with no accessories sometimes because your outfit looks unfinished or something is missing. Here are some tips to perfect accessorizing.

LESS IS MORE

A good tip is that before you leave the house take away two accessories if you are unsure you’re overdoing it. If you have a statement piece in your clothing you want to tone down the accessories so you can focus on the piece without overdoing it. Simplistic looks can look sleek and expensive which is great.

NECKLACE

Cuban chains are on-trend and can spice up an outfit. But, if you decide to sport a diamond-encrusted chain you want to keep the rest of your accessories to a minimum. Simple but minimalist jewelry can make any outfit look cohesive without doing too much. For the flashy jewelry wear that for the weekend or going out with friends. Wear a Cuban necklace with a bowling style shirt and a pair of chinos with sneakers.

With hats keep it simplistic so you wear other pieces to elevate the outfit or you can make it the eye-catcher and revolve the outfit around the piece. Hats can be worn to keep you cool or keep you warm. It is more suited towards the weekend or casual outing. Pair a Jerri brim hat with kimono, shirt, cropped pants, and dress shoes.

Investing in a nice watch can be the key to making your outfits look expensive and effortless without doing the most. Watches can be worn for all occasions and instantly makes an outfit dressed up. SUNGLASSES

They are great for the summer and add an edgy or mysterious look to your outfit. Find eyeglasses that suit your outfit and compliments your jewelry. If there is gold jewelry go for the gold detailed sunglasses. Or the warm brown tone sunglasses. If your wearing silver jewelry go for the silver detailed glasses or cool tone glasses. The different styles of sunglasses can give off different vibes as well for an outfit. Aviators can give off a casual and cool vintage look for any outfit. So, consider what kind of vibe you want to give off with your outfit, the number of accessories you are currently wearing, and the type of accessories you are wearing that will go with the glasses. If you need glasses to see, a nice pair of black glasses are an easy everyday look that can go with everything without distracting from the other accessories. Glasses are for more casual outings and outdoor activities. Aviators with a linen shirt a little bit unbuttoned, chinos, and a clean pair of sneakers for a casual going-out day look.

BRACELET AND RINGS

Bracelet and rings can add a touch to your outfit. You can opt for leather bracelets, tactical cord bracelets, beaded bracelets. If you want a more sophisticated look go for the metal jewelry. If you have a bunch of rings on your hand put the bracelet on the hand with the least amount of rings or no rings to balance it out. If you do not want to go all the way out with a watch a bracelet is a good choice. For more relaxed and causal outfits wear beaded, leather, or tactical bracelets. Think of a pair of jeans with an oversized tee and Chelsea boots to go with your leather bracelet and rings. Rings can add a nice finishing touch to an outfit and can be generally worn for all occasions.

SOCKS AND TIES

Socks can be overlooked when it comes to accessories. If you are wearing a suit a pair of nice socks can add a nice touch to an outfit. If you want to wear a pair that shows off your personality or matches your tie can make an outfit look well thought out and take it to the next level. It’s the little details that make an outfit stand out. The same goes for ties if you just want to focus on ties or match them with your socks. White socks with white sneakers give a nice clean look that is great for lunch date or outing— also, great for streetwear looks!

BAGS

A nice bag can make you look chic or suave. If you want to look expensive without breaking the bank go for minimalistic bags that are neutral colors like brown or black. Depending on the occasion try out messenger bags, briefcases, gym bags, and duffle bags. Messenger bags and briefcases are more for formal events. Gym bags and duffle bags are more for traveling or going to the gym.

WALLET

Finally, the wallet. I feel like the ticket to adulthood is a wallet. And if you want to be taken seriously a nice wallet is a must-have. Again, minimalistic looking things look more expensive than they might actually be so opt for that. But, also investing in a good wallet is worth it. A wallet is something that you will use every day and is holding things that are important, so have a wallet that is durable and lasts a while. In the long run, you aren’t buying more wallets than you have to. But, also buy one that shows off your personality so when you pull out your wallet people get a little sense of who you are.
